The Cretan (An hymn to love)

Dionysios Solomos’s masterpiece, transferred on stage by Marios Iordanou (director) and Sofia Kazantzian (choreographer), comes to London following performances in Athens, Zakynthos, Zurich and Munich.

Poetry, dance, music and physical performance combine to tell us the story of the shipwrecked Cretan who faces supernatural phenomena in trying to save his beloved. The performance in London is part of a 2017 tour in European capitals, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to mark the 160 years from Solomos’s death. Marios Iordanou and Sofia Kazantzian, awarded by UNESCO for their theatrical work on Solomos, are joined on stage by dancer Valentino Valassis.

The play is 70 minutes without interval and it will be in Greek; copies of the English translation will be available for non Greek speakers.

Free entry; booking essential: 020 7563 9835 or [email protected].
