My husband and I are very interested to hear of your campaigns to save the foundations of Greece’s environment and cultural heritage; this kind of work has been highly significant in our lives for the past decade. In fact, with the essential support and generosity of our friends, family and my students and adult learners, we have regularly been taking spectacles and pharmaceutical products to the very poor of Greece, together with money raised in our various fundraising campaigns. Our next “eranos” is this coming Tuesday 23 February after a showing of the Roza Eskenazy film “My Sweet Canary” at the Broadway Cinema, Nottingham, which I have commissioned. We then plan another fundraising evening with Greek food, music and dancing in June – again for the desperately poor of Greece. The Old People’s Homes of Halkida and Thebes (together with the Katafygio for the Stray Animals on Evia island) have all benefited in some way from these events, and we are always open to more suggestions!!

Unfortunately we are unable at such short notice to come to the Hellenic Centre this Wednesday as I have classes here at the University, but we do make the trip regularly to the Hellenic Centre – our last being the Pontic Evening in October ’15.
