Reload Greece’s 11-day accelerator programme RG Challenge18 takes place in London 26th June – 6th July. This year Reload Greece received a record number of applications to the programme; applications from inspiring start-ups came from all over the world, from countries such as Germany, Greece, Russia, India and America, all with a great potential to have a positive impact on Greece.
The London based charity saw many applications from start-ups in high growth sectors such as technology, fashion and design, tourism and hospitality, fin tech, consumer and AI and blockchain. Applications were judged on a set criteria looking at each start-up’s idea, their team and their potential to create ventures with a positive impact on Greece. The final 15 start-ups to win a place on RG Challenge18 are Digital & Tech, Medical, Blockchain, Social Enterprise and Green Technology businesses. All of the final teams have great potential to have a positive socio-economic impact on Greece.
In order to continue to build bridges between Greece with the rest of the world, Reload Greece are continuing their collaboration with key players of the Greek entrepreneurial scene. Three of the participating teams are coming from the Be finnovative and Business Seeds accelerators of the National Bank of Greece and the Egg accelerator of Eurobank. Keen to access the UK market and investor community, businesses coming from Greece will learn how to create sustainable business models who are ready to pitch their business, become investment ready and fast track their start-up.
The fifteen participating teams will work on their business propositions and plans with over 40 international high profile mentors and industry experts. Reload Greece’s top professional and academic mentors from companies such as IBM, Unilever, PwC, Credit Suisse and the London Business School will support the start-ups to refine their business model, strategy and financials and learn how to pitch effectively. Each participating start-up will also gain invaluable 1:1 time with investors who have shown an interest in their businesses.
On Thursday the 5th of July, the entrepreneurs will present to a panel of investors at the exciting RG Challenge18 Dragons’ Den final pitch event on the 32nd floor of London’s impressive CCT Venue in Canary Wharf. Three investor judges will award prizes to the winning start-ups (Paul Rous, Venture Manager at Imperial Innovation and Venture Partner at Blackfinch Ventures, Vasiliki Petrou, Executive Vice President at Unilever Prestige and Mark Hutchinson, Global Client Service partner at Ernst & Young).
RG Challenge18 Programme Director, Mike Sotirakos, said: “RG Challenge18 is looking the strongest yet, we are very excited. We will work tirelessly with the 15 finalists to catapult them towards success and reverse the brain drain by building strong and lasting bridges between the UK and Greek ecosystems.”
