Recent Excavations of Tombs of the 11th-9th Cent. B.C. at Palaepaphos in Cyprus

with
Professor Vassos Karageorghis

The excavations of the Cyprus Department of Antiquities at Palaepaphos have brought to light burial customs and offerings which resemble strikingly descriptions in Homeric epic (8th  Cent. B.C.).

These were introduced by Achaean immigrants at the very end of the Late Bronze Age, thus justifying the term ‘homeric’ for Palaepaphos, well before Homer.
