Paper Dress: Future of History? – A talk by Jose Teunissen

As part of #TextMe_PaperFashion,  Jose Teunissen, Professor, Dean, School of Design & Technology,
London College of Fashion will give a talk about : ”Paper Dress: Future of History?”

Introduced in the late 1960s the Paper Dress was one of the strongest symbols of a new Zeitgeist and a throw away culture symbolised an easy, modern and comfortable lifestyle. Everything was light and immediately replaceable due to new materials with new qualities. Nowadays paper is attractive because of its sustainable strength, since 80% of all paper gets recycled. The question here is how the ‘disposable’ character of a Paper Dress can express completely different values within the Fashion history and what specific qualities and values Paper Dress can symbolize?
