“In Greece, this means a festival involving live music & dancing, and lots of food & wine. And we couldn’t think of a better description for our wine festival, taking place on 13th & 14th October at the West Handyside Canopy, a stone’s throw from The Greek Larder.

Hopefully by now, you know about the food & drink element to the festival…..over 120 Greek wines, our famous souvlaki, filo pie making sessions, Greek cocktails & Saturday Kitchen’s Olly Smith at the helm of our tastings & talks programme. So what else?

Well, we’ve been excited to collaborate with The London Greek Collective & their band Kourelou on an exciting line up to ensure that our evening sessions of the festival go off with a Greek BANG! The London Greek Collective aims to revive Greek music and dance in the UK and internationally, and as a collective of professional musicians, they want to share Greece’s rich musical heritage through concerts, festivals and long fun nights.

Kourelou draws on their Greek roots as well as music from the South Balkans to produce a vibrant musical mix with a contemporary twist. The band recently made their BBC Radio 3 debut & they have also featured on Swedish Radio, Resonance FM and in UK magazines Froots and Songlines. Kourelou performed on Charlie Gillett’s BBC stage at Womad Festival UK in July, receiving WOW reviews. BBC Radio 3 said they ‘rocked our world’….and we’re ready for more of the same at our PANIYIRI!

Don’t expect plate smashing or anything Zorba the Greek in style; this will be traditional Greek music with plenty of modern twists, set to give our Greek wine festival the authentic soundtrack it deserves. We say YAMAS, and see you there!

Festival Talks & Tastings
Running throughout the festival, covering everything from Modern Greek wines to which meze plates go best with Greek sparkling. NEW for this year are our lunch sessions hosted by Olly Smith & guest chefs from CaravanRotunda & our very own Theodore Kyriakou. Try 3 different plates, with a Greek wine matched to each (and not a taster sized glass either). Lunch sessions will run on Friday & Saturday at 1pm. Book for this & our other tastings / talks at 

Our festival food & drinks menu is a triumph, even if we do say so ourselves. From souvlaki and saragli (a rolled type of Baklava) to our cracking Greek cocktails & wines by the glass, we have everything covered to sustain you through Greek dancing & our Paniyiri. We will also have a filo pie making station; come on over & give it a try….we’ll be gentle, promise!
