Mimosa’s Dream Productions presents:

Locomondo Live in London!

Support act: Irene Skylakaki

Locomondo is one of the most known and successful bands in Greece.
The 6-member band fronted by Markos Koumaris, the main songwriter and composer of the group, fuses Reggae, Ska and Caribbean sound with Greek lyrics and greek traditional musical elements.
Although the band has released 8 albums in its 15 year history (one of them reaching gold status) , it is mainly appreciated for their powerful live shows in Greece and all across Europe.
Besides Greece, especially in Germany, the group has created a solid fanbase through the years and plays sold-out tours every year.

Taking notice of this interesting musical mixture the German film director, screenwriter and producer of Turkish descent, Fatih Akin, included Locomondo’s reggae version of the rebetiko song “Frangosyriani” in his Venice Film Festival Special Jury Prize winning film Soul kitchen in 2009.
The song was primarily included in one of the bands first albums which was recorded in Jamaica in collaboration with Skatalites member, Studio One iconic trombone player (and Bob Marley musical companion)Vin Gordon.

In 2012 the Italian rap band Club Dogo landed a summer hit and reached platinum in Italy with the song “P.E.S.” which was based on Locomondo’s greek hit song “Pro” .

Influenced by the Mestizo music style which became popular shortly after the millennium the band did various collaborations with artist as Amparo Sanchez (Amparanoia), Natty Bo (Ska Cubano) and Tonino Carotone, but also shared the stage with artists as Manu Chao, the Wailers, Alpha Blondy, the Skatalites, Chumbawamba, Culture, Mad Professor, Ojos de Brujo and Aswad among others.

Furthermore, Locomondo has supported a lot of environmental and humanitarian organizations in the past such as Greenpeace, Amnesty International, A21 and the greek homeless street paper “Shedia”.
(In 2014 Greenpeace-Greece chose Locomondo’s song “To bee or not to bee” for its  campaign about the worldwide decline of bee populations.)
This band is definitely one of a kind.
Don’t miss their only show in London.
