Nahmad Projects, an exciting new contemporary art space opening on 9 June at 2 Cork Street, today announced the 30 shortlisted artists for its inaugural exhibition I am NOT tino sehgal curated by Francesco Bonami.
Following a careful selection process thirty successful artists, from countries as far and wide as Russia, Finland, Israel, Greece and Korea, have each been chosen to perform their work over one day, with a different performance presented on each of the exhibition’s thirty days.
The open call has triggered a range of experimental responses and spans topics such as language, literature, physicality, economics and privacy. Greek artist Anna Fafaliou choreographs visitors to sleep in the space whilst British artist Jenna Finch invites a band to perform live music without instruments. Italian artists VOO Collective choose to display the £1000 project award in 1p coins in the space and invite the public to participate in monetised games whilst Finnish artist Susanne Kass encourages visitors to display which languages they speak and teach others new phrases.
