Greek Serenata : Rebetika, Laika, Entechna, Music of the islands – Brighton

After the success of their appearances in Brighton as part of the Rebetiko Carnival, musicians from the festival return as the group Plastikes Karekles for a Greek afternoon of Rebetiko, Laiko, entehno and music from the islands. Some of the most well known songs from Vamvakaris, Tsitsanis, Hiotis and others as well as Zabetas, Theodorakis, Hadjidakis, Loizos, Xarhakos and Korakakis. Songs heard in households, bars, and venues all over Greece for thelast 70 years and made famous by the great singers such as Bellou, Ninou, Bithikotsis, Kazandzidis, Marinella, Mosholiou, Panou, Mary Linda and others. An afternoon where people can join in with the singing and get up and dance as the mood takes them. Bring the whole family and friends for an afternoon that will be great for Greeks and non Greeks.Music for all to enjoy.

Plastikes Karekles is a group of musicians with backgrounds in classical, jazz and traditional Greek music. Thay have performed in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Royal festival hall, St.David’s Hall and festivals all over Europe. The musicians of the group are the founding members of the Rebetiko Carnival, a one month festival dedicated to the music of Rebetiko and beyond, supporting musicians based in London and from Greece.
