In this guided bus tour, we trace the contribution of the Greek Cypriot diaspora to London’s multiculturalism following the route of the 29 bus, which is dotted with places and spaces that tell the community’s history.
Hop on our iconic double-decker and (re)connect with the Greek Cypriot diaspora through a journey past coffee houses, restaurants, tailor shops, and churches. Follow a path that is emblematic of the diaspora’s historic northward expansion and explore how these places act as symbols of the transnational identities of the UK’s Greek Cypriots through audio-recorded testimonials, photographs and music.
The tour starts at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of All Saints in Camden Town and terminates at the Cypriot Community Centre in Wood Green, where you will be offered Cypriot coffee and traditional delicacies and you will have the opportunity to share your own stories of transnationalism and diaspora life.
The tour is organised by Petros Karatsareas and Athena Mandis as part of the 2018 Being Human Festival.
