17 November marks “Polytechneio Day” in Greece – the day in 1973 that saw tanks of the fascist dictatorship attacking students in the University, and the day that eventually led to the restoration of democracy.
To mark the event there will be a concert of Greek music and songs of resistance in the JCR, played by the SOAS Rebetiko Band, together with the band Perastiki, and musical friends from the international community. Good vibes and Greek dancing.
There will also be Greek food. Admission is free and open to all SOAS students and friends.
Donations are invited for the food, and the proceeds will go to refugee action in Greece.
You are invited to join us.
