Dora Bakoyannis – An insider’s view on the refugee crisis event

Dora Bakoyannis is a former Minister of Foreign Affairs in Greece. She is a liberal politician and MP with a deep-rooted faith in the European Idea.

1992-93: Minister of Culture
2003-06: Mayor of Athens. (The first female mayor in the city’s history, and the first woman to serve as mayor of a city hosting the Olympic Games)
2006-09: Minister of Foreign affairs
2013-Present: Vice President of the EPP/ CD Group of the Council of Europe

Special focus will be given on how the austerity measures have resulted in a humanitarian crisis in a European country such as Greece, a country which simultaneously is required to manage an unprecedented refugee flow.

Mr. Yannis Kefaloyannis, MP for Rethymnon in the Greek Parliament and Parliamentary Spokesman for the New Democracy party will be opening the event.
