Back in 2011, preparing for an exhibition in Istanbul, glass artist Yorgos Papadopoulos developed the Stratified Jewels, a new body of work that was inspired by the evil eye amulets that was a common symbol to the Greek and Turkish cultures of his home country.
The idea of protecting against evil made him think about life’s choices and the values, concepts and attitudes that promote good. In 2016, after the untimely death of his sister, he created 60 new Stratified Jewels around six concepts that he considers of great value for his life and for mankind as a whole.
